I’m Sara, a passionate National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach, yoga and meditation teacher, retreat leader, and podcast host, bringing over two decades of transformative experience to my community.

My Mental Health Journey

My personal wellness journey began in 1998, and it has been shaped by my understanding of the profound impact that mental health has on our lives. I have navigated my own challenges, including mental health struggles and a breast cancer diagnosis. Through this experience, I learned firsthand the healing power of integrative and mindful practices, which have been instrumental in my recovery and resilience.

My commitment to mental health is deeply personal, influenced by my mother, Jane, who faced severe mental health challenges throughout her life. Her journey has instilled in me a profound understanding of the importance of compassion, support, and awareness in addressing mental health issues. As a member of the Board of Directors for NAMI Charlotte (National Alliance on Mental Illness), I am proud to facilitate NAMI’s Family Support Groups and the Ending the Silence program, which educates middle and high school students about mental health awareness and stigma reduction.

HopeWay: Our Partner in Comprehensive Mental Health Care

At Yoga for Mental Health, we understand that mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorders are prevalent in today’s society. These challenges can leave individuals feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their true selves. Recognizing the complexities of mental health, we have partnered with HopeWay Psychiatry & Associates, a trusted outpatient practice in Charlotte, to provide a comprehensive approach to mental wellness.

Addressing Mental Health Needs Holistically

While traditional treatments are essential, many individuals find that holistic, complementary approaches can significantly enhance their healing process. Yoga for Mental Health (Y4MH) was born out of compassion, lived expertise, and a profound understanding of yoga's healing potential. Our initiative is designed to complement traditional mental health treatments, creating a sanctuary where individuals can reconnect with themselves, cultivate community, and rediscover the joy of movement.
